I'm Trish Dwight, founder and principal medical science communicator at Convey Your Science. As an experienced Australian-based science communicator, I work with scientists, health professionals, and not-for-profit organisations to ensure the significance, value, and impact of medical research are understood by all.

With a PhD in cancer biology and over 20 years of experience across laboratory research, research funding systems, and science communication, I support medical researchers in strengthening funding applications, demonstrating impact, and building the visibility their work deserves.

Complex science is not always easy to translate – especially when its significance must be understood by audiences outside the field.

The science may be rigorous, and the contribution widely recognised by peers. Yet, when researchers explain their work to audiences outside their immediate field – to funders, scientists, clinicians, policymakers, patients, and the public – the significance of the research is not always immediately clear.

Often, the challenge is not the science itself, but the research narrative: the explanation that connects the problem being addressed, the contribution of the work, and why that contribution matters.

When the research narrative is unclear, the significance, value, and potential impact of the work can be easily overlooked.

I work with medical researchers to translate complex science into clear, credible research narratives that strengthen funding applications, support research influence, and demonstrate the real-world impact of the work.
